Funerals, memorials & burials

Funeral & Memorial services

Thank you for considering All Saints Burwood to help you at this challenging time. At such a time, grief, sorrow, and bereavement are both natural and appropriate. We would like to help you remember the life of your loved one and to share the hope we have in God’s grace and power over death. Funerals and memorials can take place at both All Saints Burwood and nearby historic St Marks Church.

We offer a traditional Anglican service officiated by either the Vicar, Deacon, or church celebrant, who will work with you to ensure that it fits your family and loved one. They will meet with you and your family to plan the funeral service and explain the various options that you have to make it a special and meaningful farewell.

Any person may have a funeral or memorial service at All Saints Burwood church, regardless of membership and where they have been or are to be interred (buried).

Booking a service

Funerals can be held on any day except Sunday, providing the church building is not otherwise booked. The funeral director, or you and your family, can contact us using our Enquiry Form to check the availability of the church and staff (including the Vicar/Deacon/church celebrant) for the service on your preferred date/s.

Venues

All Saints Church

Capacity 200

The church auditorium and adjoining lounge are good spaces for a funeral or memorial service.

There is an area for catering/refreshments after the service, together with the connected kitchen and toilet facilities. The church building has wheelchair access (with accessible toilets) & onsite parking.

St Mark’s Church

Capacity 50

A beautiful old venue for an intimate funeral or memorial service. The space also has excellent acoustics, with no sound system needed.

Please note that due to the age of the building there is no built-in kitchen or bathroom (a tidy portaloo is provided).

Burial/interment at Burwood Cemetery

There are no more standard (adult) sized burial plots available in this cemetery. Ash plots are available, and a number of small burial plots (for children). More information, Plot purchase and interment fees are outlined below.

For a burial, an Anglican minister is usually present. This is not required for the interment of ashes.
